John Lawrence Seay (see) was
born July 16, 1949 in Birmingham, Alabama. He resides there with his wife,
Portia and son, Jacob today.
John served in the United States Army as
a mechanic, illustrator, and draftsman from 1969 to 1978. After his service
career, he received formal drafting and design training at the Horn School
of Drafting (1978) and has an Associate Degree in Drafting and Design from
Bessemer State Technical College (1999) both of which are in Alabama.
John is a self-taught artist in charcoal
portrait drawing from photographs. He creates architectural renderings
from photographs using black ink and charcoal as well as restoring damaged
photographs. He has been teaching charcoal portrait drawing from photographs
since 2000. John is the author of the portrait drawing instruction CD titled:
The Must"Seay"

John is also an accomplished accordionist with over 52 years playing the
instrument. He has performed in many parts of the United States and Europe.
